Soon, we will be upgrading to a new dedicated server with all the hard drive space and then some.

I'm not sure how fast the site if for all the members, but however fast or slow it may be, it will greatly improve.

Hopefully this should happen within a week or two if everything goes according to plan.

Today is the day we move to a new server. The new server will be dedicated and make for a faster site for all the members, regardless of their current internet connection speeds.

What to expect:

1. Tonight, we will shut the site down, taking it off line and do a complete back up of all the data bases. At the point of shut down, everything on the site will be copied at that point and then this data will be transferred to the new server. No data should be lost, including posts, battle stats, arcade scores etc.

2. Once the data is transferred to the new server, it will be tested and when it is determined that there are no problems, or any problems have been resolved, the new server will be put online and depending on the speed of each member's internet provider's DNS servers pointing to the new DNS, members can log back in from a relatively short time to a few hours.

Our address will still be www.invisionarcade.com and no action should be necessary on the part of the members. We're sorry for the necessary short period that we will be offline, but the result should be a better experience in site speed for all the members.

The new server is now configured and we've uploaded a previous site backup to allow us to test and make sure this new server is configured correctly and everything on the site works. Its well past midnight for me and I've run out of time as my bed calls out for me.

We'll resume working on this sometime in the morning and once we have determined that all is okay, we will shut the site down and do a full backup and then write this to the new server. Then we'll put the new server online and you will be able to access the site again depending on how long it takes your internet provider's DNS Servers to point to our new IP address.

Our site URL will continue to be http://www.invisionarcade.com but the IP will obviously change. We'll put a message on the screen when we shut the site down informing all our members of the move.
